About Addison 's family

Mom is a survivor of domestic violence and has been working with a Firefly advocate for a year and a half as she goes through the process of divorcing her abuser. Throughout this journey, she has always looked out for her children's safety and wellbeing by including them in the safety plans she completes with her advocate. Despite their challenges, they stay close through family game nights and visits to Mom's sister. She is hoping that this Christmas will help her to reinforce the stability of a new normal now that her separation is almost final.

Mia, 14, is a freshman in high school with a remarkable confidence. She knows who she is. Mia is very outgoing and talkative -- traits that will be well-suited for her dream career of owning her own business in the hospitality field. She is also very creative, and enjoys crafting beaded jewelry to sell when she accompanies her mother to craft shows. At school, Mia has a love for music and is very involved with her choir. At home, when she isn't persuading her older sister to let her borrow makeup or craft supplies, Mia enjoys reading young adult fantasy novels.

About Jackson
Age: 5 | Gender: Male | Race: White
Jackson, 5, is the baby of the family who keeps his mother and older sisters on their toes with his curiosity. At age 5, Jackson is still figuring out how the world works and he isn't shy about asking questions. Jackson's mom has had to work hard to protect him from her abuser by making sure that parenting visits are supervised. Even with this challenge, Jackson is still an energetic little boy, whether he's playing with his classmates in pre-K or riding his bike down the street at home (with mom watching, of course).
