Every year, hundreds of youth age out of foster care in Indiana. The transition to independence can be tough! Young people in Firefly’s Older Youth Services program have elected to build their skills and self-reliance with help from a case worker. Most either work full-time or attend school with part-time employment. It means so much to these young adults to know someone is in their corner - especially during the holidays!
Ben Story
At 19 years old, Ben is stepping into adulthood with confidence and heart. He’s part of Firefly’s Older Youth Services program, where he’s learning to balance school, work, and independence. Friends describe him as caring, funny, and responsible — the kind of person who brightens a room with his easy sense of humor. Ben loves spending his free time reading, playing video games, and diving into a good board game with friends. His favorite colors are green and black, and he’s always drawn to cozy comfort — a new pair of jeans or sweatpants would make his season even brighter. Whether he’s enjoying a quiet evening or sharing a laugh with others, Ben shows how resilience and kindness can go hand in hand. Supporting his holiday wishlist is a way to remind him that his hard work and optimism don’t go unnoticed.
