About Danielle's family

Hope for the Holidays

Keatyn’s Mom was referred to Firefly after she and her son became homeless. The family had moved from out of state to Indiana for safety reasons and in search of a new beginning and a brighter future for both Mom and baby. Since day one, Mom has been proactive, connecting with resources, looking for employment opportunities and taking the necessary steps to be in a better place. At first, Mom was working Door Dash and having to pay out of pocket for a motel, but was able to secure a more stable job as a substitute teacher in one of the local township schools and placement at a local shelter. Currently, Mom is saving money to put toward move-in costs for her own apartment. She has been offered a long-term assignment at the school she is working at due to her admirable performance. Mom is excited to think that she is closer to her biggest goal at this time—securing her own housing. Mom is also enrolled in online schooling working toward a degree. If Mom continues persevering as she has done to this point, she will definitely be meeting her goals and much more. This holiday, Mom and Keatyn could benefit from some additional support with needed items.

About Keatyn

Age: 1 | Gender: Male | Race: Black or African American

Nine-month-old Keatyn is a cute, playful and happy infant. He attends daycare daily and loves to interact with other babies his age. He definitely keeps his Mom on her toes as he is pretty busy crawling around from place to place. Keatyn loves to be read to and he and Mom take frequent visits to the library to read new books and play on the activity tables. Recently, Keatyn started being introduced to new foods at daycare and he seems to really be liking new flavors and textures. Mom is excited to see how Keatyn continues to grow and develop and looks forward to enjoying seeing him meet his milestones. This holiday, he could really use a high chair, playpen and some age-appropriate educational toys.
